This is what the Bible tells us:

Our heart tends to run from God and rebel against Him. The Bible calls this "sin." Romans 3:23 says, "For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God." We are born with this "sinful nature".

Yet God loves us and wants to save us from sin, to offer us a new life of hope. John 10:10 says, "I have come that you may have life, and have it more abundantly."

To give us this gift of salvation, God made a way through His Son, Jesus Christ. Romans 5:8 says, "But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us."

We receive this gift by faith and faith alone. Ephesians 2:8 says, "For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith -- and that is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God -- not by works, so that no one can boast."

Faith is a decision of the heart demonstrated by the actions of our life. Romans 10:9 says, "If you confess with your mouth, 'Jesus is Lord,' and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved."

If you would like to receive what Jesus Christ did for you right now and receive new life through Him, pray this prayer (or one like it):

Dear God, I know I am a sinner. I believe Jesus died to pay for my sins. I ask you to forgive me of my sins and I make You Lord of my life. Thank You for forgiving me and thank You for my new life.

If you've just prayed this prayer here are some important things to do:

Tell someone about it. A friend, family member, etc. Get involved in a Bible-Believing Church so they can help you grow as a Christian.
Pray and read God's Word Daily. Now that you have received Christ you'll be tempted to go back to your "old way of life". You need to grow and learn to lean completely on His strength and guidance.
